For the avoidance of doubt about my use of these images:
The duration of copyright under UK copyright law for the ‘Typographical arrangement of published editions’ (eg newspapers) is 25 years from the end of the calendar year in which the work was first published.
These images are from a newspaper dated 12/10/1949 and hence are no longer covered by copyright law.
A few years ago I gave copy of the wilki image to owner of cafe at Beeston weir marina (he displayed photos in cafe of historic interest for the area) the lad with the oar spotted this photo on a visit (he I think lives down south) he wrote a letter about his time on the ferry, they may still have it at cafe.
Thanks for that John, I’ll ask next time I am there. Did you hear that Canalside Heritage Centre Trust has received lottery funding to restore the four cottages down there and turn them into a heritage centre? More details may be found here: http://www.canalsideheritagecentre.org.uk/
